Two of Philip's brothers, George and Henry, were killed in the Civil War and were buried in Louisiana and Kentucky, close to where they died.

Philip Bible Speegle was the son of Israel Washington Speegle and Susana Ryan Bible.
Philip's father, "Wash" Speegle, was the founder of Speegleville, Texas.

Philip was the grandson of Philip Michael Spiegel & Priscilla Reed and John Adam Bible, II & Rebecca Coffelt.

Philip had two sisters: Arey and Tery;
and five brothers: Adam, George, John Mikel [b. 16 Feb 1839, Marion County, TN, d. Jan 1847, Marion County, TN.], Henry and Israel [b. 1848 and d. infancy].
His family settled in Texas, in 1849.

Philip Speegle married four times:
Philip 1st married on 21 Sept 1854, to Minerva Jane Wyatt.
Father of (by Minerva) Minerva Jane "Janie" Speegle.

His 2nd marriage was on 14 Aug 1858, to Bell Ann McDonald.
Father of (by Belle) George Washington, John "Brack", Anne Philip Sidney "Sid", Twin Boy 1 and Twin Boy 2 Speegle.

On 12 Aug 1869, Philip married his 3rd wife, Martha Ann Jones, a daughter of Elias "Eli" Jones and Christian McLennan. [Christian McLennan was the daughter of Neil McLennan, who was the founder of McLennan County, Texas, where Speegleville is located.]
Father of (by Martha) Jeanette Lucinda "Jennie", Joe Giles, Mary Etta, Philip Adam, Arachristian, Mattie, Katie May and Michael Ryan "Mike" Speegle.

Philip's last marriage, 18 Sept 1890, was to the widow of John Constantine Lake - Mrs Mary Jane Hickerson Lake, a daughter of Charles Niles Hickerson and Margaret Jane White.
