Maartje "Maryann" vanBeveren of Heritage Commons in Middletown passed away on Tuesday, (June 24, 2008) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital.





Born in Loosduinen, Holland, on July 30, 1922 to the late Cornelius Arie vanBeveren II and Catharina vanBeek vanBeveren, she immigrated to the United States in 1950 after marrying the late Albert H. vanWoerden. She formerly lived in Holland; Germany; Austria; Schenevus, NY; Cobleskill, NY; West Simsbury, Middlefield, Mt. Dora, FL; and Summerfield, FL. In 2006, she returned to Connecticut to live near her children and grandchildren. She was a trained nurse and was forced into working in a German Labor Camp during WWII. She was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, Dutch and German music, gardening, and her many pet dogs, cats, and birds over the years. She also loved to travel, going back to her homeland many times during her lifetime.





She leaves behind three children and their spouses: Johann "John" vanWoerden and his wife, Janie, of Middlefield; Katharina "Karin" Thody and her husband, Bob, of Durham; and Marianne "Heidi" Wimler and her husband, Skip, of Durham. She also leaves behind six grandchildren including Shanoen vanWoerden, Johann vanWoerden, Jr., David Thody, Kimberly Thody, Lisa Wimler, and Michael Wimler. She leaves behind a sister, Petronella vanBeveren vanWoerden of Holland and a brother, Cornelius Arie vanBeveren III, also of Holland. A sister, Johanna vanBeveren, predeceased her.






Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1st at 7:30 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cathedral of the Pines Cemetery, Rindge, NH.
Friends may visit with the Family at the Biega Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m.
