Life-long resident of the Perry community Morris "Moke" Bowers, 62, died at 1 p.m. Saturday at his home at 1017 Jackson street.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran church. Rev. Myron C. Maltz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the Richburg cemetery, east of Perry, under direction of Brown Funeral home.

Memorials have been established to benefit the Judith Karmen Hospice of Stillwater; Richburg cemetery perpetual care fund and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

The son of Chester and Susie Bowers, he was born at Perry, Sept. 28, 1924. He attended Perry schools. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Bowers and the former Dorothy Grundeman were married March 30, 1947.

Bowers formerly owned and operated Bowers Drive In, was associated with Colvin Sales for 16 years, also had operated Bowers Sales Co., and had been a school bus driver.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran church in which he had held numerous positions, including elder and board of education members. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to Mrs. Bowers, of the home, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Cheryl) DeJager, Perry; and Mrs. Clint (Joy) Adler, Chickasha; one grandson, Wade DeJager, Perry; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Hughes and Mrs. Myrtle Brewster, both of Perry; and Mrs. Wayne (Doris) Speer, Morrison; and one brother, Don Bowers, Burkburnett, Texas.
