Bernice Bell Read was raised in Oklahoma and went to live in California after meeting and marring Jack Woody Chaney in 1942. They had a daughter Nancy Lynne born in 1946 and a Son Garvin Read born in 1952. They lived in Salida Califoria most of their married life while Jack earned a living as a canery machanic. Bernice was a stay at home wife and mother with great garding and musical skills.
