Obituary of Lars Jorgensen, from Minden Courier, Thursday July 12, 1934

The funeral of Rev. Lars Jorgensen was held from Bethany Home and from the United Presbyterian Church, Wednesday afternoon July 11. The Rev. A. Hofgaard had charge of the service, assisted by the Rev. F. J. McConnelee and the Rev. F. P. Taler. Burial was made in the Fredricksburg Cemetery.
Lars Jorgensen was born in Denmark, January 11, 1849 and passed away at Bethany Home in Minden, Nebraska July 9, 1934 at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 28 days.
On the 23rd day of February, 1871 he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Olsen, who preceded him in death 28 years ago. To this happy union, six sons were born, four of them preceding him in death, namely Anders, Rasmus, Hans and one who died in infancy.
In 1871 they immigrated to the United States, living in Omaha for two years. In the spring of 1873 they moved to Kearney county, where they took a homestead the same year. Here they and their children suffered the privations and hardships which characterized the pioneer days. In later years, Mr. Jorgensen made his home in Minden and the last five years he lived at Bethany Home.
He yielded his life to the Lord in early manhood and lived a Christian life to the end. He was ordained to the ministry in Minden October 1, 1889, to work in the Danish Free Mission Church and spent considerable time in preaching the Word of God.
In passing he leaves to mourn his two sons, Chris Jorgensen of Sidney, Nebraska and Ole Jorgensen, together with twenty grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, besides a host of friends.
