When Dorothy was nine years old, her family moved to Taylor, Texas. Dorothy married Rudolph Appel in 1934 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in west Taylor. They were blessed with two sons, Raymond Appel and James Appel. After Rudolph's death, she married Joe Faltesek in 1968. For many years Taylor Bedding Manufacturing Company was her place of employment. She retired at age ninety as office manager of Grace Place, where she worked tirelessly to help many
residents and friends. Tenth Street Methodist Church was her life-time church home.
In April, 2012 Dorothy moved to the SPJST Nursing & Retirement Home in Taylor, Texas. She faithfully wore a sweet smile, curly ringlets, twinkling eyes and red clothing. Hugs and kisses were always available to the many people who cared deeply for her. Her ninety-eight years of life were filled with strong faith, living hope and much love. The sunshine of those loving ways and encouraging words brightened lives and warmed hearts of the many lives she touched.
Left behind are a son, Raymond Appel, a brother, Quentin Anderson (wife, Helen,) and numerous family members and friends who loved and admired her. Her caregivers and staff at the Taylor SPJST facility were dear to her heart. The family sincerely appreciates the exceptional care and love they so generously and willing gave her in the last years of her life.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 9:30 am at Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 am.
