Robert was born in Fabens,prior to the Alvarez
family moving to Clint.
He enlisted in the Marines 18 April 1966,at the
El Paso Recruiting Office.
Arriving in Vietnam he was assigned to Charlie
Company,1st Battalon,4th Marine Regiment,
3rd Marine Division.
Robert died as a result of a bullet wound enter
-ing the right temporal region and exiting the
right occipital from hostile rifle fire,when
enemy forces attacked Charlie Company,3 kilo-
meters northeast of Con Thien(Hill 148),during
Operation Beacon Hill.
Robert was single and served his country for
11 months and 6 days and was KIA #10,631.
Tour of date unknown.
Robert was 20 years,2 months and 2 days old.
Survived by his parents;Jose Juan & Juana
Campos Alvarez;three brothers,Alberto,Raul
and John,and a sister;Gloria of PO Box 54,
Clint,TX.

Buried with full military honors 6 April 1967.
Posthumously awarded the Silver Star Medal
for his actions on 24 March 1967.
