WANATAH, IN -- Mrs. Bertha Regula Cole, 75, of Union Mills, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Lockport, Pa., to Nicholas and Bertha (Nyman) Modis, and had lived in Union Mills for nine years, coming from Portage.
Mrs. Cole was a material handler for the Budd Company in Gary and had also been a waitress. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wanatah.
On March 19, 1949, she married Charles Regula.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Dick and Patricia Phipps, both of Portage, and Sherry Ray of Union Mills; two sons, Charles Regula of Oklahoma and Rick Regula of LaCrosse; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Louise Benko, Margaret Hamula, Anna Hildebrand and Elsie Troup, all of Pennsylvania, and Marie Cadwallader of Indiana; and two brothers, Andrew Modis of Pennsylvania and Kelsie Rummell of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, James and John Modis and Albert Rummell.
A funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Jerry Schweitzer officiating. Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wanatah Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wanatah.
