Mrs. Dorothy Mathis, 81, of Panama City, Fla. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 19, 2008 in a local hospital. She was born in Bay County and was a lifetime resident. She attended Hickory United Methodist Church and always liked to lend a helping hand to others. She was an avid gardener and loved working outside. She also loved going places, fishing, music and cooking. Survivors include her son: Eddie Bishop and wife Marilyn of Panama City; a granddaughter: Jessica Shultz and husband Eric of Panama City; a grandson: Daniel Bishop of Panama City; four great-grandchildren: Kaytlin Bishop, Lynsey Dyment, Kristen Shultz and Jacob Shultz; two sisters: Ruth Carter of Lynn Haven, Fla. and Katherine Griggs of Panama City; two brothers: Jimmy Brown of Youngstown, Fla. and Billy Ray Brown of Marianna, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond W. Mathis; and five sisters and brothers: Louise Hall, Peppy Pippin, Ernest Brown, Ruby Mae Barrentine and Lee Brown. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joe Brown, Benjamin Finley, Dennis Carter, Aaron Carter, Huey Carter and Eric Schultz. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Heritage Funeral Home.
