Mary (Bender) Beachy was born September 30, 1921 in Thomas, Oklahoma the daughter of Emery and Sybil (Yoder) Bender. In her youth she accepted Christ and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. On December 6, 1945 she was united in marriage to Earl J. Beachy. To this union six children were born 3 sons and 3 daughters. Mary died on Monday, May 26, 2008 at her home in rural Kalona following a brief illness at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 26 days. Mary is survived by her husband Earl of Kalona, 5 children Ella (Alvin) Miller of Munnsville, New York; Emery (Sadie) Beachy of Hardin, Missouri; Judy (Norman) Kauffman of Smyrna Mills, Maine; Sylvia (Sanford) Miller of Kalona; Morris Beachy of Kalona; 48 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Fannie (Arthur) Beiler of Paradise, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Eldon, 3 grandchildren Keith Edward (stillborn), Mary Louise, Rachel Lynette (stillborn); 2 great grandchildren and 2 brothers Henry and Toby Bender. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Sanford Miller residence at 1060 Orange Ave in rural Kalona. Minister in charge is Paul T. Miller. Burial was in the Peter Miller Cemetery in rural Kalona.
