Funeral services for Airman First Class Doyle H. Dempsey, 22, son of Mr. & Mrs. E. H. Dempsey of Hawkins, TX were held at 2pm Tuesday, June 7, 1955 at the First Baptist Church of Hawkins.

Rev. Tim Trammell, pastor, officiated, and was assisted by Rev. J. H. Malone, pastor of the Hawkins Methodist Church. Burial was in the Hawkins Cemetery.

Airman Dempsey was killed in a plane crash March 9, 1955 near Pleasant Grove, Utah, while on a training flight. His body was recovered May 20, 1955. Victims of the crash were buried in deep snow. He was born June 5, 1933.

In the Air Force nearly four years, he would have been discharged on June 7, 1955. He was a 1951 graduate of Hawkins High School and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors other than his parents are six brothes, A. W. Dempsey of Hawkins; R. L. Dempsey & Vernon Horton of Louisville, Mississippi, Pascal Horton, Marion Kirk Horton & Mitchell Dempsey all of Pascagoula, Mississippi; four sisters Mrs. C. D. Dunan, Mrs. O. B. Goff, & Mrs. Mitchell Dempsey of Pascagoula, Mississippi & Mrs. Richard Dempsey of Louisville, Mississippi
