~MY ALSOP FAMILY~
The son of my ancestors, JOHN & TEMPERENCE (GILBERT) ALSOP, he immigrated from London in 1635 in the ELIZABETH & ANN at age 14 years. He took the oath of Fidelity in 1644 and was admitted a freeman on 8 June 1657 in New Haven.

His wife was Elizabeth Preston (called "Joseph Alsop's wife, my daughter", in the will of William Preston). In spring of 1652/3, Joseph Alsop was freed from training and watching because he was master of a vessel above 15 tons. He was called "Skipper Alsop" in the New Haven Town Records in 1687.
He was the cousin of my ancestor, ELIZABETH (ALSOP) BALDWIN, wife of RICHARD BALDWIN.
