Valeria J. Sheehan, 82 years old of Lake Villa, Illinois passed away suddenly Saturday, March 14, 1998 at Condell Medical center in Libertyville, IL. She was born April 28, 1915 in Lake Villa, IL., the daughter of the late Paul and Rose Slazes and was a life long resident of Lake Villa. Valeria was a beautician for many years. She also was an accomplished cook, baker, seamstress, gardner and wonderful homemaker. She was a charter member of the Lake Villa VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a long time parishioner of Prince of Peach Church in Lake Villa. On October 19, 1937 she married Elmer Sheehan in Antioch, IL and they celebrated their 60th anniversary this past October.
She leaves to cherish her memory her dear husband, Elmer; one daughter, Joyce (Carl) Meyer of LaGrange, IL., and one daughter-in-law Jane Sheehan of Madison, WI. She was the grandmother of Anna and Eric Meyer, Matthew (Julie) Sheehan and Sarah Sheehan. Also cherishing her memory are many nieces and nephews, four sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law. Valeria was preceded in death by her son, Jim in January of 1996, two sisters Amelia and Annette and three brothers, Steve, Stanley and Frank.
Funeral services will Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 19, 1998 at Prince of Peace Church, Lake Villa, IL. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Friends may call at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main Street (Rte. 83), Antioch from 4 until 9 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Prince of Peace Church, the Lake Villa Fire Department or the Lake Villa Rescue Squad in her memory.
