OBITUARY MENTION

Joseph E. Defaut died at his home in this city last week Thursday at the advanced age of 87 years, He has been in poor health for several years and a week before his death had a stroke of paralysis which culminated in his death.
He was born in 1822 at Sackett's Harbor, N.Y., and came to Wisconsin in 1760 (sic-1860) and settled in Kewaunee county. He came to Door county in 1866 and settled on a farm in Forestville, where he remained until about six years ago when he sold the place and moved to this city which has since been his home.
He is survived by his wife and eight children, the latter being: Joseph E., Frank A., and James A. all of this city; Mesdames Mrs. Geo. Marr and Wm. Bacon, of Algoma, and Mrs. Sarah Goodwin and Mrs. Emma Frouzoe, city, and Martha J., of Marinette.
The funeral was held from the home Saturday by Rev. (type smeared), interment being at Bayside. All the children were present at the funeral except Martha J. Defaur.
Among those in attendance from outside points were: Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Empey, Frank Goodwin, Mrs. Emil Flokoff, Frank Hurst and Mrs. Frank Austin, Mrs. John Laucher of Algoma, and George Fowles, of Maplewood.
