From an unnamed and undated obituary: Lelia May Olsen, 93, formerly of 1810 W. Austin St., died in a Dallas hospital at 10 p.m. Monday, July 25. Services were conducted at Evergreen Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Mrs. Olsen was born Feb. 1, 1895, in Howland, a daughter of Condary Strickland and Julia Ann Smith Strickland. She attended Howland schools and married Capt. Herman N. Olsen in 1936. He died Dec. 13, 1942, while serving in the Maritime Service. She worked for the State Comtroller in Austin, retiring in 1960 when she moved to Paris. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 5. Surviving are several nieces and a nephew, including Virginia Strickland Kreig of Huntsville, Evelyn Stuart Williams of Lubbock, Louise Strickland Scott of Dallas, Catherine Strickland Shelley of CA. and Marion Strickland of Okoboji, IA.
