Josephine was the daughter of Franklin E. McNeil and Jane Hacking King King McNeil O'Brien. Going by the records of when her father came into the Utah Territory in December of 1857 and his subsequent murder 5 August 1859, and the fact that she is not listed with her mother, siblings, and a new husband, James Hanley O'Brien on the 1860 Cesus in Fairfield enumerated in October 1860, her birth is estimated to be about 1859 and death before October 1860.

List of her family members:
Jane Hacking married first (divorced) Enoch Marvin King and they had son David Franklin King.
Jane Hacking married second John Morris King (brother of first husband) but he died a few months later leaving Jane a widow.
Jane Hacking married third Franklin E. McNeil (murdered) and they had daughter Josephine McNeil.
Jane Hacking married fourth James Hanley O'Brien and they had children Mary and James Hanley O'Brien. James Hanley O'Brien Sr. was a soldier at Camp Floyd and went east to fight in the Civil War. He was wounded and died in 1864, a short time after his son was born.

Thomas O'Brien is listed as a son of Jane Hacking and James Hanley O'Brien, but his birthdate is 1867 so either the birthdate is wrong or he was not the son of James Hanley O'Brien.

The Cedar Fort Cemetery Index and Cedar Valley Histories have erroneous information about who Josephine's father was:
Josephine McNiel (O=Bryon)
OLD-34
08-04-08
Parents: Jane Hacking King McNiel and Enock M. McNeil
(According to Josephine's mother's history, Josephine was buried in Camp Floyd.)

The excerpt from History of the Hacking and Fisher Families written by the son James Hanley O'Brien may explain some of this confusion.

"I do not know Mr. King's first name as Mother mentioned him to me but once. At that time I asked her how she happened to marry him and she told me that she fell in love with a young man in England and was engaged to marry him but her mother opposed the marriage and the engagement was broken and she married Mr. King to get a home. I have no idea how long this marriage lasted or whether or not they were living together when Dave was born. However, they were subsequently divorced and she married a man named McNeil by whom she had a daughter named Josephine. McNiel was a Government Scout who was shot in the back and died at Camp Floyd. Josephine died when she was about two years old - also at Camp Floyd. I do not know what day she was born or when she died."
