Obituary: 16 Oct 1967

George W Ashley, 77, of the Fairview Community died at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Greeneville Hospital.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs Raymond Seay of High Point, N.C., nine sons, John S. of Rochelle, Ill., Albert of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Claude and Tommy, both of Morristown; Paul of Adel, Ga., Fred Ashley of Greeneville; Jack of Chicago, Ill., Norman of Rockford, Ill. L.G. Ashley of U.S. Navy, stationed at Paris Island, S.C. Five sisters, Mrs. Jay Stoud, Mrs. Howard Pettit and Mrs. Estel Douthat of Mohawk; Mrs. V.C. Lambert of Morristown, and Mrs. Clarence Rednour of Belvidere, Ill., Two brothers, Lon Ashley of Mohawk and Moody Ashley of Belvidere, Ill., 32 grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. James Kinser and Rev. Clyde Rhea will officate. The body will remain at Mosheim Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight and will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes before services.
