Gloria was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon where she met her beloved James "Ross" Nelson also a native of The Dalles. Gloria married Ross in 1944 prior to his entering service in the Navy during World War II. They moved to Portland in the late 1940's where she worked as a bookkeeper for Nelson & Walker - her husband's accounting firm for about 20 years while raising their three children. Gloria was a devout Catholic and attended St. Claire Catholic Church in SW Portland. Gloria passed away at home at age 78 from multiple inoperable brain tumors with her husband and children at her side after a relatively short, but intense illness. Gloria was survived by her husband Ross; sons - Stephen & Philip; daughter Julie Meunier; sister - Mary Reinke; and four grandchildren. Gloria loved God, her family & home, & flowers and had a gentle way about her that always made you feel welcome.
