Gertrude 'Trudy' Bakke, 86, of Cloquet, formerly of Duluth passed away on March 10, 2005 in St. Mary's Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on May 21, 1918 in Minneapolis to Vincent and Anna Lemieux. Trudy was an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. She was one of the first members of the Sweet Adeline singers. She was a member of the West Duluth Moose Lodge and the West Duluth American Legion Auxiliary. Trudy was an avid outdoor enthusiast, including camping, fishing and family picnics. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Cahill and Lester Bakke; son, Vincent; five grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Bassett and her parents. Trudy is survived by her children, Annette Hudson of Pensacola, Fla., Patricia Erven of Grand Rapids, Minn., Laurel Peltier of Cloquet, Bonita Kreitz of McGregor, and Cynthia Radtke of Duluth; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Blanchard, Joanne Loisel, and Anna Marie Locke; many nieces, nephews and other relatives, and also her kitty, Missy. VISITATION:4-7 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005 in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave, Cloquet. The visitation will continue on Monday, March 14, 2005 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church, 280 Reservation Road, Cloquet. Lunch will follow mass at the Fond du Lac Tribal Center E.N.P. Following the lunch interment will be at Oneota Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements are with Handevidt Funeral & Cremation Service, Cloquet 218-879-4636.
