Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Tuesday, December 28, 1971:
  Herman L. Ackerman, 63, of Alton was pronounced dead on arrival at Alton Memorial Hospital Saturday. He had been ill for six years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton.
  He was born Sept. 15, 1908, at Newkirk, Okla. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ackerman. On June 9, 1934, he was married to Marie Brunnworth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton. She survives.
  Other survivors include sons William Ackerman of Alton and Robert Ackerman of Beaufort, S.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Churchman of Tallahassee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Edward Ackerman of Hayward, Calif.; sisters Mrs. Fannie Carpenter of Newkirk, Okla., and Mrs. Emma Opel, Mrs. Anna Rademacher, Mrs. Ella Lokey and Mrs. Edith Krotz, all of Worden.
  Friends may call at Burke Funeral Home in Alton until 9 p.m. today and until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
  Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton. Rev. Leland Lochhaas will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
