Frank Wyman was the 22nd postmaster of St. Louis (1903-1909). After beginning his career in 1867 with the firm of Waters, Simmons & Company (later known as the Simmons Hardware Company), Wyman resigned in 1902 after 37 years. A number of prominent St. Louis businessmen endorsed him for the postmaster's position, believing that his business methods would serve well in the post. He presided over the operation of the post office during the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition and opened a branch post office on the fairgrounds and helped preside over the ceremonies when the post office issued a series of commemorative stamps honoring Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and others associated with the Louisiana Purchase and its centennial.
