Paul R. Carey, 42, of Atlanta, formerly of Spencerville, died September 12, 1993 in Denver.
Parents: Duane M. Carey and Patricia A. Hardesty Carey.
His father and stepmother, Duane M. and Barbara Carey survive in Urbana. His mother and stepfather, I.W. "Pete" and Patricia A. Strayer, survive in Spencerville.

Mr. Carey was an iron worker for the Trujillo Steel Erectors of Lafayette, Colorado. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers, Local 24 of Denver.
Mr. Carey was a Marine veteran having served from 1969 through 1973, and was a 1969 graduate of Spencerville High School.

Survivors also include a son, Rick Bareswilt of Ashtabula; a stepsister, Kathryn Carey Jones of Denver and a half sister, Mrs. Ted (Teresa) Savidge of Spencerville; three half brothers, Duane Carey of Bowling Green, Mark Carey, stationed at Holliman Air Force Base, and Mark Strayer of Spencerville; his grandmother, Mary Carey of Wapakoneta, and stepgrandmother, Jessie Strayer of Alamagordo, N.M.
He was preceeded in death by a half brother, John Strayer.

Services at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home with the Rev Harold W. Thiedt officiating. Burial in Spencerville Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Bowersock Brothers Post 6772, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 of Spencerville.
