Tony Coppi
South Shore Drive resident Tony Coppi died Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
Having married Nancy Drummond, who survives, Mr. Coppi received a bachelor of science degree from Indianapolis College of Pharmacy.
From 1945 to 1954, he was a fight judge and writer for Ring Magazine. In 1961, he was president of Indianapolis Association of Retail Pharmacists.
Mr. Coppi was a pharmacist for Coppi Drugs for 40 years, retiring in 1987. After retiring, he was a freelance writer for Outdoor Life and The Indianapolis Star.
He was a member of Southport Lodge #270 F & AM for 50 years, Southport Chapter #442 OES, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine.
Other survivors include two sons, Mark and Troy Coppi; two brothers, Bruno and Ervin Coppi; a sister, Milta Garavalia; and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday, December 6, at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
