Mr. Daou was born in Tahuita, Lebanon, on Jan. 1, 1917, the son of the late Khalil Daou and his wife Hoda Ishac. He was the husband of the late Angele (Nadia) Daou who passed away Jan. 15, 2007. he was a faithful attendant of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence and while living in Lebanon he attended St. Nohra Maronite Catholic Church. He immigrated to the United States in 1982 and became a U.S. citizen over 20 years ago. Mr. Daou was involved with several benevolences and a life supporter of Caritas and local charities.
Mr. Daou was awarded the French Government Medal of Honor as a "L'Ami de France" in World War II for his role in protecting the lives of French Citizens in Lebanon. Mr. Daou was also a scout leader for several years. Mr. Daou enjoyed gardening, cooking for his grandchildren and playing backgammon with his friends.
He is survived by three sons, four Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was offered May 21 at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial at St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen.
