Daniel L. Shinn, 51, 313 Main St, Mapleton, died early Sunday morning, May 27, 2007, at his home. Born July 31, 1955, Chamberburg, he was a son of Betty E. (Dell) Bloom, Huntingdon, and the late Charles Bloom and Margie (Fillmore) Shinn, Chambersburg, and the late John W. Shinn. He was engaged to wed Karen (Heaster) Kelly of Mapleton, July 28, 2007, at the Cornelius Chapel Church. Mr. Shinn is also survived by a daughter, Stephanie D. Shinn, TX, at step-daughter, Ronda E. Kelly, Mapleton, and 3 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by 7 siblings; David, John, Arthur, Bonita, Sharon, Gail, and Patricia and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Shinn attended Trinity United Methodist Church. He served with the US Marine Corps from 1973-1976 and the US Army Reserve from 1978-1984. Mr. Shinn was a charter member of the Standing Stone Division of the US Marine Corps League and a former member of the Mt. Union American Legion. He was a 1973 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School. Most recently, he worked as a self-employed remodeling contractor. He was also well known as the former manager of Ames Department Store, Tyrone. He also worked as manager of Blue Juniata VFW Post No 5754, Mt. Union. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 30, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union, with Pastor Woody Leigey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 this evening, May 29, and from 9 AM Wednesday until the time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 900 Bryan St, Suite 7, Hntingdon, PA
