An interesting group of matrons, four sisters to be exact, have been registered at the Cliff Hotel since last Thursday afternoon. They are: Mrs. Mary Bryant Longbrake, 2527 1/2 E. Imperial Highway, Los Angeles (2) Calif.; Mrs. Minnie Bryant Flint, Rt. 2 Box 88, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Clara Bryant Briscoe, 20317 Arminta St. Canoga Park, Calif.; and Mrs. Belle Bryant Pennebaker, Exeter, Calif. Rt. 1, Box 670.
These girls lived here many years ago with their parents, Thomas D. and Annie Bryant, who passed away in the years of 1892 and 1894 respectively, and it was to re-located the resting place of their dear ones in the local cemetery that they trekked the 1600 miles east. And it was here the past week that they have renewed many old acquaintances. They lived on a farm four miles west of Nelson near the Red Line school house and also for two years on a Scully lease near the Henry Wehrman place. Their father was a laborer on the Rock Island railroad, then building into Nelson. Later they lived in the Fair Ground house now occupied by Charles Demilt. They were active in the Christian Church and Sunday School and attended school in the old building on the hill before the present buildings were erected.
The ladies were assisted by W.C. Hall in the locating of the graves, which included that of their grandmother Elizabeth Bryant who died in 1893, as they were in the same cemetery block with those of his grandfather, I.N. Atkisson, and his uncle, Wm. S. Piper.
Of added interest is this -- Mrs. Minnie Flint is the wife of George Flint, once a Nelson boy.
