'Ethan A. Pool

Jeremiah and Sarah M. (Church) Pool, are the parents of Mr. Pool, who was born in Wyandotte county, Ohio, Dec. 1, 1836. Dec. 18th, 1872, he was married in Bridgewater, Williams county, Ohio, to Emma J., daughter of James W., and Mary (Olney) Pease, the former still living, but the latter deceased, born Sept. 22d, 1845, in Hillsdale, Mich. By a former marriage to Mary J. Demerest, now deceased, he had one child -- Charles S.; by second, one child, Harry W., deceased. Mr. Pool enlisted Oct. 1, 1862, at Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 26, as a private in Co. I, 38th O.V.I., 1st Brig., 14th A.C., and was honorably discharged from first enlistment at Chattanooga, Tenn, Aug. 12th, 1863, reenlisting May 10, 1864, at Pioneer, Ohio in Co. D, 14th Regt., serving until his final honorable discharge Sept. 2d, 1864, at Petersburg, Va. He took active part in the battles of Murfreesboro, Tallahoma, and Hoover's Gap; he had two brothers in the late war, John J., in 6th Ohio Bat., and 18th U.S. Regt., died in June, 1891, and Robert O., in 68th O.V.I., who is now living in Montpelier, Ohio. His grandfather, Benjamin Church, served as Capt. in the Revolutionary war, and his father was in the war of 1812. One brother of his wife served in 142th O.V.I. Comrade Pool belongs to Joy Post, 152, has served several terms as Township official, draws a pension, is a farmer, and his postoffice address is Pioneer, Ohio.'
