John M. Wilber, son of Isaac Wilber and Jane Porter Wilber, was a Civil War veteran, serving in the Grand Army of the Republic, 135th Illinois Infantry, Co H. He married Martha Ann Thomas in 1862, and after the war ended, they eventually made their way to Washington County in Arkansas. He and Martha had two sons, William Franklin, who died at age 2, and Charles Robert. Martha preceeded him in death in 1914.
