TAZEWELL, Va. — Esther Pauline Harrison Abel, age 86, of the Thompson Valley community in Tazewell, Va., was suddenly called to her heavenly home Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Tazewell County, she was born January 22, 1922 in Thompson Valley, Va. to the late Elder Columbus Harvey Harrison and Jennie Nannie Kinder Harrison.
She was a member of the Universal Primitive Baptist Faith, Salem Church in Bandy, Va. for fifty-five years having been baptized in 1952.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Millard Abel; infant son, C.B. Abel; infant daughter, Dovie Pauline Abel; infant granddaughter, Brenda Gail Perkins; one sister, Ruth McGuire and an infant brother.She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her children, Lillian E. Perkins and husband, Burton, Nellie Brinda Smith and husband, Roger, Sandra Gay Putnam and husband, Dillard, Ruby Mae Vencill and husband, Kenny all of Tazewell, Va., and Roger Millard Abel and wife, Vicky of Pulaski, Va.; one sister, Ruby L. Sheets of Tazewell, Va.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at Peery and St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Elders Robert Whitt, Farley Beavers, Ronnie Compton, Willard Owens, and Craig Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
