On October 10, 1928, he married Evelyn M Winkler at Sts. Peter & Paul Church at Seneca. They lived and farmed northeast of Kelly for 37 years. In 1965 they retired from farming and moved into Seneca. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1978.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael Holthaus on Sept. 14, 1966, and Wayne Haverkamp on July 5, 1981.
Survivors are five sons; Avitus, Melvin W., William, George J., and Robert; a daughter, Georgina.
