Mr. Oley Edgar "Monk" Chatman, age 72, a resident of South Main Street in Columbia, passed away Saturday, May 3, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Chatman will be conducted Wednesday May 7, at 2:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Herb Helton officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00- 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Marshall county native was the son of Melvin Odell and Mary Louise Potts Chatman.
He is survived by two sons: Charlie (Dana) Chatman of Culleoka and Donnie Chatman and Fiancé Sherry McNeese of Columbia; one daughter Cynthia (Neal)Oliver of Culleoka; mother of his children: Wanda Cruise of Culleoka; stepdaughter: Caryol (Michael) Lloyd of Culleoka; three sisters: Sue Berry of Pulaski and Ruby Kirk both of Pulaski and Nancy (Clyde) Frost of Culleoka; two brothers: James Chatman of Columbia and Joe Chatman of Pulaski; grandchildren: Brittany Chatman, Tisha Rutledge and Kirsten Rutledge all of Culleoka; step-grandchildren: Allen Westland and Robert Demastus of Columbia; special great grandson: Christopher Demastus of Columbia. Several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Lloyd, Frankie White, Bradley Sparks, Chandler Edwards, Timmy Sparks, Harold Schaelder, Harold Schaelder, Jr. and Allen Westland.
