Getrude "Gertie" Ruth Kirschstein, 86, died Saturday, March 20, 1999 at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Springfield United Methodist Church, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-9 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Fern and husband Walter Meine of Springfield, Rose and husband Ken "Bucky" Lee of Springfield; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Panitzke of Sanborn; sister-in-law Dorothy Sorensen of Sleepy eye; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Alfred; sisters, Winifred Dobberstein, Mary Dietz and Gladys Kirchstein; brothers, Olaf and Harvey.
She was born June 26, 1912 in West Point, Neb. to Peter M. and Alva (Rosenkrenz) Sorensen. She grew up in Evan. She married Alfred Kirschstein on Oct.r 20, 1931 in Springfield. They farmed near Cobden until 1938, when they moved to Springfield. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Springfield.
