Little Clara Scott was born on the Whittier Ranch, as many of the children were. She was a very special and loved child. When she was born, the entire household had the measles. From that event we know that the sickness left little Clara an invalid. She never walked or talked. Yet she found ways to communicate with her family. After Mr. Scott, Claras' father died, her mother continued to care for her, by moving their bedrooms downstairs together. She was a very loved child and there are many stories in which Clara is included.
