Amanda "Mandy" Elizabeth Miller of Sandia, Texas was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 12, 1958. She passed away on May 6, 2008 at the age 50 after a long and courageous four-year breast cancer battle.

Mandy graduated from La Porte High School in 1975 and went on to fulfill her dream of being a college graduate. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio in 2000. Mandy's love of music filled many aspects of her life. She was a member of several local bands throughout the years and continued to play guitar and sing through the majority of her cancer struggle. The Lord blessed Mandy with a beautiful voice and she used this blessing to bring happiness and contentment to all that were lucky enough to be near her. Sunday mornings, she could be found at her beloved church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, singing praises to her Lord. Her outgoing personality and love of life naturally drew people to her.

Mandy was easy to love and many stood in awe of her many talents. Her life should be a reminder to us all to love God, enjoy everyday as it comes and give of ourselves to all in need. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society, the Church Council and participated in many Church benefits as a committee chairperson or committee member.

She also donated her time and singing talents to various area fundraisers and benefits, even in her own darkest days. Mandy knew the meaning of the word "no", but rarely used it. If an event was in need of an angel's voice, chairman, fry cook, ticket salesperson, or sign creator, Mandy was there, always with a smile and a new joke. Mandy was a member of the Women of the Moose (Loyal Order of Moose Fraternity) since April of 1991, earning her Cap and Gown, the highest degree of the Women of the Moose, in June, 2004. She was also the musician for the Chapter for many years locally as well as for the Women's International Conventions. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and presently held the position of Conductor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald A. Miller; niece, Amy Wolfe; step-father, Curtis Watts; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mick; and paternal grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. Robert Miller. She is survived by her mother, Miki Watts; dearest and beloved friend, Carol Ann Duncan of Sandia, Texas; three sisters, Melissa Wolfe (Bryan) and Marty Reyes (Javier) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Melinda Smith (Ted) of Bristow, Oklahoma; two nieces, Alyssa Reyes and Nicole Wolfe of Corpus Christi, Texas; two Godchildren, Chelsea Napier of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Henry Thorne of Sandia, Texas.

Visitation and a rosary were held Thursday, May 8th at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on FM 534 in Sandia, Texas on May 9, 2008. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Corpus Christi, Texas.
