BILLY GRAGG BURGESS, SR., 81, of Memphis passed away at his home Monday, May 5 after a long fulfilling life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Blanton Burgess. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army, an avid hunter and fisherman, master mason, 50 year member of plumbers local union #17, but most of all a loving husband, father and grandfather. Some of his proudest moments as a father were watching his boys play ball and seeing his daughter crowned "Miss Tennessee". He is survived by daughter, Marion (Bill) Burgess Flannigan; sons, Billy (Suzanne) G. Burgess, Jr and Howard (Dee) Burgess. Mr Burgess was blessed with seven grandchildren, Will and Elizabeth Flannigan, Rhianone, Adrianna, Lauren, Grace and Sarah Burgess; sister, Edith Burgess Nichols, Water Valley, Ms. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, from 6 p.m. till 7:30 p.m. A masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Services will be Thursday, May 8, 1 p.m. at Bartlett United Methodist Chapel with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens.
