John Henry Sien was born in Alton, Illinois on November 20, 1856.

On November 17, 1936 he passed away, a victim of pneumonia. While attending the services of the Lord he loved so well, he was stricken ill on Sunday, November 8th.

He was a charter member of the Church of Christ here at Davenport, having spent fifty-two of the nearly eighty years of his life in or near this place.

In 1879 Mr. Sien was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Williams of Audibon, Illinois. She lived but a few months after their marriage.

Then in 1883 he married Miss Elizabeth Stanley of Nokomis, Illinois,and to this union were born nine children, two sons preceded him in death.

Besides the wife, who survives him, the living children are: Mrs. Percy Caton, Stockham, Nebraska; Charles F. Sien, Canada, J. Robert Sien, Davenport, Nebraska, Mrs. J. M.
Hart, Waco, Nebraska, Harry E. Sien, Marysville, Kansas, Mrs. Nelson Rife, Kansas City, Missouri, Melvin L. Sien, Belvidere Nebraska. Eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter survive him.

Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ on Thursday afternoon with C. W. Mersch in charge.
