"DIED- CHARLES LIGHTNER -It is with deep regret we announce the death of this brave volunteer. He was attached to the 53d regiment, Gen. Sumner's Division, and at the hotly contested battle of Chickahominy, was instantly killed. Lieut. Royer writes that he was near him when he fell, and that he died like a soldier and a brave man. Mr. Lightner was a single man, and before he left for the army, was in the employment of Watson, Denniston & Co., as keeper of their Furnace. He was beloved by his friends and acquaintances, and most keenly felt by his mother, who has but recently buried her husband."
