English Royalty. Born at Eltham Palace, Kent, England, the youngest child of Edward IV, King of England and Elizabeth Woodville. She was placed in the Dartford Priory as a child when her mother retired to the monastery of Bermondsey. She took vows as a Sister of the Order of St. Augustine after 1487 at the priory, the only house of Dominican nuns in England, and remained there for the rest of her life. Upon her death at a about age 36 she was buried in a chantry chapel at the priory. Following the dissolution of Dartford Priory, Henry VIII chose the site to build a Manor House and Anne of Cleves was given it as part of her divorce settlement. Nothing of the original building survives, while only the Gatehouse remains of the Manor.
