Our beloved daughter Jolyn Kauluwehionuuanuikaimilaniopono Sadako Manuela has been a radiance of hope in our lives. She joyfully ran home into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father and her sister Rowelena on April 22, 2008 at Primary Children's Medical Center.
She was born on July 7, 1993 in the American Fork Hospital to Ronald R.W. Manuela Jr. and Jean (Nakamoto) Manuela.
Jolyn loved this mortal life and continues to love life beyond this one. She ambitiously worked to fill her life with as many experiences that she possibly could even when it meant physically she wasn't able to do it. There was no such thing as limitations in her eyes and mind. All she ever wanted was to be a "normal" young woman and yet in our eyes, she was not the "normal" young woman. She was and continues to be extraordinary and exceptional in every way. Jolyn always had a dream to fulfill or a wish to make. She thrived on accomplishing goals that went beyond the mark of expectation. She would be so positive even in the most dismal circumstance and miraculously say things like, I am going to get off of the oxygen. Or I am going to get off of the nitric oxide and miraculously, she did. Sometimes she would exhaust her mother because she would get so anxious about accomplishing more than a couple of tasks at the same time. It all had to be done. There just was never enough time to do it all so she would meticulously plan everything in her life.
Jolyn has binders of her life's plans. She chose her career as a dental hygienist and cosmetologist. She also had applications and education requirements so that she knew what she needed. She designed her prom dresses and notified her mother that she would need to work on it in advance. She planned out her wedding and most importantly of all she wanted to be a good wife and mother so she kept a file of inspirational talks like the one from Sister Julie Beck on being "A Mother Who Knows" to help her with that too. Even though she will not be able to complete these goals here, we know that she will go on to accomplishing even greater goals because of the kind of faith and determination she possessed.

Funeral Services for Jolyn will be held at the American Fork Hillcrest Stake Center on 165 North 350 West with a Viewing on Friday, May 2 from 5-8 p.m. Jolyn's life celebration is on Saturday May 3 with a Viewing from 11-12:45 and Service at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at the American Fork City Cemetery under the direction of Anderson & Sons Mortuary, American Fork.
