Samuel Brown was the son of Solomon and Sarah Slason Brown.


WILL OF SAMUEL BROWN Jan 26, 1850 Pound Ridge, Westchester Co NY; In the name of God, Amen. I, SAMUEL BROWN, of the town of Pound ridge in the county of Westchester and state of New York, being of sound disposing mind and memory, do make an publish this my last will and testament, in manor and form following, that is to say

--First, I order and direct my executors herein after named, to pay all my just debts, funeral expenses and the expenses of settling my estate.

--Second, I give and bequeath to y beloved wife REUHAMAH all my household furniture, and three hundred dollars.

--Third, I give and bequeath to my son AARON BROWN, during his natural life, the use, benefit and occupancy of the farm on which h now lives, situated in the town of Stamford, bounded northerly by land of Richard Cox, easterly & southerly by land of Edwin Scofield, and Westerly by the highway leading from Pound Ridge to Darien, and after the death of my said son AARON, then the above mentioned farm to be divided equally among his children.

--Fourth, I give and bequeath the remainder of my property, both real and personal, to my other five children, to be divided equally among them, to share and share alike, that is to say, one fifth part to my son SANDY, one fifth part to my daughter CLARISSA, wife of CHARLES G. BETTS, one fifth to POLLY, wife of SIMEON DIBBLE, one fifth to HARRIET, wife of ABSOLEM SHERWOOD, and one fifth part to ELIZA, wife of D. W. C. CARPENTER; with this express condition that they accept it peaceably, but if either of ten commands litigation about the division of my property if is my will that his or her share shall be divided equally among my other children.

--Fifth, I hereby nominate and appoint my son SANDY BROWN and my friend WILLIAM LOCKWOOD executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other and former wills, by me made. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26th day of January, One thousand eight hundred and fifty. SAMUEL BROWN

I, SAMUEL BROWN of the town of Pound Ridge, county of Westchester and state of New York, being of sound disposing mind and memory do make and publish this as a codicil to my last will and testament, which is known…(illegible) that is to say I give and bequeath the use, occupancy and profits of all that portion of my (illegible) contained in the third section of my said will, which I have devised to my son AARON BROWN of Stamford, to LAURA BROWN the wife of my son AARON T BROWN as long as she shall remain his widow. Samuel Brown of Poundridge filed New York Claims of Soldiers in the War of 1812 Westchester County, NY There was a Samuel Brown who was 40 when he enlisted Oct 10 1811 in Boston. He was born in Schenectady, NY and he was a Tailor with Hazel eyes and brown hair, light complexion. He was 5 feet 7 1/2 " tall assigned to Capt Jas House in the US artillarya-- not this Samuel Brown.
