Joseph Button (b) 1760 Hopkinton RI. (d) 1845 Springville PA. He was a veteran on the Revolutionary War. While serving in Col. Topham's Reg RI. Troops Am Rev., on 28 August 1778, during the battle of Rhode Island at Tiverton RI. He lost his leg and was left for dead on the battlefield. After recovering he was on the pension roll of Conn. from Aug 1778 until 1816. In 1789 he married Eunice Louise Sweet (b) 1768 Hopkinton RI. (d) Abt 1839 Springville PA. He was living in Columbus NY in 1823 and 1826 .He was living in Springville PA in the home of his daughter and son- in-law Abner and Loesa Burdick 1839 - 1840. After 1816 Joseph had a hard time getting his pension (as found in copies of letters signed before Justices of the Peace in Montrose, Susquehanna Co the year of 1839. He depended on his sons and son-in-law for his keep and help. The Government paid a total of 67 years on his pension.
