as one of God's special earth angels and the daughter of the late Robert Wesley and Louisa Campbell Wilson. She was dispatched to Davie County, where she attended school and built her home. She accepted her angelic calling at an early age and later joined Mainville AME Zion Church.
"Momma " was blessed as a multi talented homemaker,(sewing, cooking, gardening, reading and quilting) and an exceptional Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend who served faithfully for over 100 years. Grandma's gifts spread throughout her family and community as an example of Christian living. Grandma spread wisdom and love to all she encountered with her infectious smile.
She was united in marriage to Wesley Roosevelt Ijames
on July 8, 1932. To this union eight children were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley (1987), one son Claude Calvin Ijames (1968) and one daughter Ruth Faye Sales (1996).
On Sunday, April 6, 2008 our Mother, Sister, Grandmother,
Aunt, Cousin and Friend stepped into the true meaning of "Joy cometh in the morning" when at 5:30 AM her assignment was recalled back to the Master.
One of her special gifts was her love for quilting. Each
handcrafted quilt was uniquely made with love and given to
many especially her children, grandchildren and great-grand
children.
As a centenarian, blessed with a long healthy life, she
leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter Betty Ijames
Naylor of Mocksville; five sons; Alvis Thomas Ijames of
Tobaccoville, William Edward Ijames, Franklin Nathaniel
Ijames, Donald Eugene Ijames and John Arthur Ijames all
of Mocksville; one sister, Alberta Foster of Long Island
New York; Twenty-six grandchildren, forty great-grand
children, seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of
other relatives and friends.
