Major League Baseball Player. Born Walter Henry Porter in Vergennes, Vermont, he made his debut as a right handed pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers on September 27, 1884. He played for six seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers 1884, Brooklyn Grays 1885 to 1887 and Kansas City Cowboys 1888 to 1889. In one game on October 3, 1884, he had 18 strikeouts by a losing pitcher a record which stood until 1969. On June 6, 1888, he pitched a 4-0 No Hitter against the Baltimore Orioles. He ended his career with 96 wins, 107 loss, 659 strikeouts and a 3.70 earned run average.
