Betty was the oldest of four children born to Roy Lee and Ellen Irene (Hutson) Seymour. She was married (1) John William 'Jay' Clanton Sr. and they were the parents of three children: John William 'Pete' Jr., and Pamela Lou and Patti Jena. She married (2) Donald Clyde Chipman.

SAN ANTONIO Betty R. Chipman, born May 23, 1930, in Kerrville, Texas, to Roy and Ellen Seymour, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in a San Antonio hospital.
Betty was a life long Kerrville and retired from the Kerrville Telephone Company in 1995, after 30-plus years of service. In her young family life, she was very active with her children in 4-H, FFA and PTA. She also served in The Center Point Home Demonstration Club for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed vacationing in Colorado, rose gardening and participating in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren?s activities.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Seymour.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Don, with whom she spent 26 happy years of marriage. She also is survived by her mother, Ellen; sister, Sue Mullins; brother, Randy Seymour and wife, Cherry; her children, John (Pete) Clanton and wife, Linda; Pam Burgess and Larry Pults; Patti Brown and husband, Kenny; beloved grandchildren, Irena Kelley, Raeanna McCutcheon, Joan Clanton, Chelsea Partlow, Daniel and David Higginbotham; four very special great-grandchildren, Seth, Avery, Kaleb, and Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren; along with a host of loving friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Turtle Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to the charity of ones choice.
