BIRCH Robert Leroy "Major" or "Red" Birch, 75, of Hooversville, died Nov. 19, 2000 at Laurel View Village. Born June 11, 1925 in Somerset, son of Reuben and Bonnie Lee "Binnie" (Kimmel) Birch. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Thelma Kincaid in 1993, brothers Harry and Maurice and sisters Priscilla King and Althea Mathias.
He was a decorated World War II Army veteran. Retired from Bethlem [sic] Steel, Johnstown and an avid championship skeet shooter.
