YORK, Pa. - Sadie Emily Shrader Bailey Walker, 98, of 850 Taxville Rd., York, formerly of Crumpler and Mercer Co., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 at her home in York, with Terry Brown, being her primary caregiver for the past 10 years.
Born on Nov. 23, 1904, in Round Bottom, Va., she was a daughter of the late David N. and Alice Walker Shrader.
She had been a resident of York for 15 years. She was a retired Justice of the Peace, and also worked as a secretary for her husband. She was a member of the Round Bottom Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, her first husband, Wirt Bailey; her second husband, A. Otto Walker; a son, David Bailey; a grandson, William Bailey; seven stepsons, Lacy, Mason, Bernard, Paul, Jimmy, Arnold, and Ira Walker; three stepdaughters, Mary Mitchem, Sada Simmons, and Beulah Walker; two brothers, D.N. Shrader and Clarence Shrader; and four sisters, Edith Hamner, Nina Millirons, Clara Blankenship, and Margaret Clark preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, James Bailey of York, Jackie Bailey of York, Perry Eugene Bailey and wife Treva of Dallastown, Pa., Harold Bailey and wife Myrtle of Princeton; stepsons, Weldon Walker and wife Margie of Fort Pierce, Fla., Landon Walker and wife Margie of Clinton, Md., Shelby Walker and wife Julie of Clinton; daughters, Jewel Akel and special friend Terry Brown of York, and Virginia Phillips of Bluefield; 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Black of Roanoke, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Paul Hall and the Rev. Orville Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends called at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
