Mrs. Hockersmith Dies At Hospital
Expires Late Yesterday After Long Illness
Mrs. Hattie Hockersmith, 49, wife of Louis Hockersmith, residing at 1422 South K street, died at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. Mrs. Hockersmith had been in failing health for the past three years, and was removed to the Indianapolis hospital two week ago.
The deceased was the daughter of James A. and Eva Jane Shockley and was born in Elwood on July 13, 1890. She was married to Louis Hockersmith in 1912. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Surviving are the husband, Louis Hockersmith; two daughters, Mrs. Loretta Jane Wilson, of Sturgis, Mich., and Mrs. Crystal Ione Lewis, of Elwood; the mother, Mrs. Eva Jane Fox, of Marion; four sisters, Mrs. Chloe Landis, of Weirton, W. Va., Mrs. Catherine Good, and Miss Mary Shockley, both of Elwood, and Mrs. Flossie Barnes, of Marion; two half sisters, Mrs. Laura Starkey, of Gary, and Mrs. Magdalene Nye, of Marion, and six half brothers, Dan and Jack Shockley, both of Gary; John, Graydon, and Oris Fox, all of Marion, and Verl Fox, of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church.
