The Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) April 4, 1998 Richard Wayne Alsup, 48, a retiree of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., died Thursday of cancer at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Dresden First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. Bowlin Funeral Home has charge. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He was a son of John Benton "Bennie" Alsup and Virginia Mae Cathers. Mr. Alsup, the husband of Charlene Gammill Alsup, also leaves two daughters, Rachel Marie Alsup and Sarah Ellen Alsup, and a son John Wesley Alsup, all of Dresden; his mother, Virginia Cathers Hart of Dallas; six sisters, Peggy Anne Youngerman of St. Louis, Loretta Alsup of Union City, Cathie Reilly of Fulton, KY, Gloria Williams of Clinton, MO, Mary Nancy Smith of North Fort Myers, FL, and Barbara Hart of Dallas, and two brothers, Bobby Hart and George Hart, both of Medina.
