He went to The United States Military Academy at West Point and earned a graduate degree from Rice University.

Kyle Edwin Walker, 43, of Houston died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, after a heroic and hard-fought battle with cancer.
His mother, Cynthia Mihelich Walker, precedes him in death.
Survivors include his father, Harrell Walker; brothers, Mark and Clint Walker; sister-in-law, Edith Walker; aunt and uncle, Hank and Marie Edwards; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He attended Houston public schools, graduating from Furr High School in 1977 and continuing on to West Point Military Academy where he graduated in 1981. He was a Major in the US Army. He spent six and one-half years in active military service and returned to Houston to continue his education at Rice University, receiving an MBA in 1989. He spent 12 years in Houston working in the private sector, while also serving with the Texas National Guard, where he recently retired after 20 years of service with the rank of major. His service to his country and his association with his brothers and sisters in uniform were among the greatest joys of his life. The family thanks Dr. Robert A. Wolf, T.C. Chou, Michiko Iwasaki and the entire staff of M.D. Anderson Department of Gastrointestinal Disease and the United States Military Academy Class of 1981 for their care, support and encouragement.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 19, in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Bluff Creek Cemetery in Soda. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568.
