Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 15, in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.B. McCracken, pastor of Tonk Valley Methodist Church and Gary Tull of Graham officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

He was known as "L.D.". He was born to Walter Lloyd and Nancy Ludie (Cross) Hawkins. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He married Shirley Ann Cook Jan. 12, 1947, in Newcastle, Young County, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hawkins of Graham; one daughter, Valinda Palmer and husband Kenneth of Graham; one son, Lyndel Hawkins and wife Carrie of Graham; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Truman Hawkins of Loving and several nieces and nephews.

L.D. was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel "Rudell" Shook, and one brother, Richard Lyndel Hawkins.
